| The Somerset Women’s Club Purpose |
To promote informal fellowship among all Somerset women as well as doing things to help improve Somerset and our surrounding community. Our mission is threefold:
- Provide additional recreational and social activities for the Somerset neighborhood.
- Reach out to those who need help through Somerset Sunshine and Community Outreach services.
- Sponsor some specified fundraising events to fund our mission, as well as to supplement neighborhood improvement projects.

Membership |
| Membership is open to all women residing in the Somerset neighborhood. Non-voting memberships are also available to women outside the neighborhood. Membership dues are $25 annually. To join, please contact the Membership Chairwoman, Sherridan Santivanez, at 770-859-0538.

2008 Meetings |
Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month throughout the year, with a hiatus in the mid-summer months. Meetings are at 7:30 at the Clubhouse unless otherwise noted. Often, meetings that include an outside program may be hosted at a site other than the Clubhouse.
- March 20th - 7:30 at the clubhouse, St. Pat’s party with Green Beer! Wear your green and maybe win a prize!.
- April 17th - 7:30 at the clubhouse, Spring Social and meeting.
- May 15th - 7:30 at the clubhouse, program to be announced
- June, July & August no meetings
- September 18th - 7:30 PM – Clubhouse, program to be announced
- October 16th - 7:30 PM – Clubhouse,Tricks and Treats fun!

Past programs the SWC has enjoyed include:
Latin Cooking lessons, Fresh seafood preparation, container gardening, herb gardening, college financial planning, National Kidney Foundation of Georgia presentation, holiday parties, wine tasting social at PJ’s.

Upcoming Events |
|
Sundaes on Saturday are once a month throughout the summer. Please check back for specific dates as summer nears. Fundraisers are also on deck for a possible playground and pool resurfacing. More information to follow.

Somerset Women’s Club OUTREACH Programs |
Brumby Elementary Primary School Outreach:
- Clinic and School Supplies: Brumby is always in need of basic clinic supplies (bandages, 4x4 gauze, zip-lock bags, etc.). Brumby is also in need of school supplies. Donations can be dropped off with Cynthia Rigsby 770.951.2539
- After School Program: Brumby needs contributions to a scholarship fund to allow children who cannot afford it to attend. Children need to be safe and should not be left home alone because the parents cannot afford the $7 a day per child. To date, Somerset has donated $500 for these scholarships! Look for Sundaes on Saturdays at the pool this summer to benefit this cause.
National Kidney Foundation of Georgia:
- The 2008 Somerset Fun Run/Walk will be scheduled soon.
- During the 2006 Fun Run/Walk Somerset raised $600 through donations and t-shirt sales. Thank you to everyone who participated!
East Cobb Middle School GiftAgain Program: SWC is continuing to collect those gifts which all of us receive and don't really know what to do with, but don't want to throw them away. East Cobb MS has a program called "GiftAgain" that accepts these gifts as well as wrapping paper and cards so that young people who haven't the money can give gifts to their parents on special days like birthdays, Christmas, etc. The program counselors also teach the young people how to wrap the presents, if necessary. Contact Sharon Schlipf 770.984.0787 or Cynthia Rigsby 770.951.2539 to make donations. This is an ongoing program, so keep this worthwhile cause in mind throughout the year.

2008 Somerset Women’s Club Officers |
- Stephanie Hundley, President: presides over meetings, creates agenda for each meeting.
- Courtney Kidd, Vice President: responsible for membership and shall substitute for the president in case of absence.
- Leslie Atkins, Secretary: responsible for recording and distributing minutes of each monthly meeting; also responsible for maintaining bylaws and communicating meeting/event dates and times to all members.
- Allison Hodel, Treasurer: Receives all monies and deposits same in the name of the club and keeps an itemized account of receipts and disbursements. Prepares a financial report to be read at each general meeting.
- Amanda Huestis and Maggie Bickerstaff, Outreach: Responsible for providing assistance to the community.
- Nancy Forbes, Sunshine: Responsible for coordinating requests for “Sunshine” within the neighborhood, including meals when a family’s normal schedule is disrupted due to the birth of a baby, a death in the family, surgery, etc.
- Sherridan Santivanez, Membership: Responsible for recruiting new members for the Women’s Club and maintaining the current membership list.
- Luz Diaz-Porter, Member-At-Large: The immediate Past President of the SWC, she serves on the SWC Board and provides additional consultation and input to the Board to reflect and respond to the overall desires of the organization as a whole going forward.
