ALERT: Cobb County water main work is starting!
|
You have probably noticed all the utility-marking paint and flags in Somerset recently. The Cobb County water main replacement project in Somerset is beginning construction Monday, January 23rd. We just received notice from the pipeline contractor on Thursday, January 19th, so we apologize for the short notice!
According to the contractor, work will begin on Hunterdon Way and Somerset Trace, with boring and digging in preparation for installation of new pipes.
We recommend that you take photographs of your driveways, sidewalks, and landscaping that are adjacent to the street, and in any other areas that are marked with paint/flags
in order to document their condition prior to this construction. If you have in-ground irrigation systems, please locate and mark the piping and heads and photograph them. Providing this documentation to the contractors prior to their work can help to avoid damage, aggravation and costly repairs. Please note that landscape
irrigation systems typically are not detected/marked as part of the 'call before you dig' utility marking, because their piping is all plastic and cannot be easily detected.
According to the contractor, Smith Pipeline Company, 'The installation of this new pipeline will require several phases of construction. Landscape restoration will be completed to original condition; however it may take an extended period to be finalized.'
If you have a service disruption related to this project, such as water, electric, gas or cable service disruption, Smith Pipeline's front-line contacts are: Superintendent, Richard Conley - 404-379-1687. Secondary contact - Kimberly Smith at 678-313-4758.

The Contractor and Services Listing found in previous Somerset Directories has been upgraded to an online database-driven listing. We encourage members to log in and follow the link for the Contractor and Services Listing to view and add new information.
Information in the listing can be viewed by category or by company name. At this time there are approximately 53 categories available. Now we need members to add individual recommendation/reviews within these categories. Please contact SHOA if you have suggestions to make this service more useful.
